Your role

Course Director / Tech

The Invisible Hand
Behind-the-scenes course director. You built the materials, manage the technology, and keep the production running. If you're doing your job right, nobody notices you.

Your Responsibilities

Technology

  • Slido audience polling — Configure and run live polling during Meeting 3 (option generating). Audience participates anonymously in real time.
  • Fathom live recording — Record Meeting 2 live with Fathom. Demo AI-generated minutes to the audience in real time. This is a learning objective: showing how AI tools leverage team efficiency.
  • AV and screen sharing — Projector, microphones, screen sharing for financial exhibits. Test everything the night before at the rehearsal dinner.
  • Child specialist video playback — Queue and play Jennifer Leister's pre-recorded Ainsley interview at ~1:40 PM.

Production

  • Pre-read package distribution — All pre-reads sent to registered attendees by June 3 (9 days before the CLE).
  • Printed agendas — Hard copies of meeting agendas for each attendee at their seat.
  • Cast Hub maintenance — This website. Keep documents current. Add new cast pages as roles are confirmed.
  • Rehearsal logistics — Coordinate the rehearsal dinner (night of June 11, private dining room). Ensure all AV works in the actual venue.

Materials Development

  • Scripts and agendas — Draft and refine all meeting scripts, agendas, and cue sheets with Cristi and Jenn.
  • Financial exhibits — Property division workbook, financial estate model, supporting documents.
  • Research — QOZ white paper, oil and gas lease, Texas research memos.
  • Document conversion — Markdown to DOCX for distribution. Keep source files and distribution files in sync.
"If the tech works perfectly, nobody notices you. If it doesn't, everyone does."

Notes for Graydon

Your job is to be invisible. The audience should never think about technology during the CLE — they should be absorbed in the case. Every tech decision should serve that goal.

The two highest-risk moments are the Fathom live demo (Meeting 2 — if it fails, you lose a learning objective) and the child specialist video playback (~1:40 PM — if the video doesn't play, the emotional pivot of Meeting 4 is gone). Have backup plans for both. Download the video locally. Have Fathom minutes pre-generated as a fallback.

Slido should be tested with a throwaway poll during breakfast registration — get attendees connected early so there's no fumbling during Meeting 3.

The night-before rehearsal dinner is your last chance to test AV in the actual room. Don't skip it. Don't assume it will work because it worked in a different room.
